Google's 2006 results, announced by the Internet giant 31 January show earnings of 3.07 billion dollars, compared to 1.46 billion in 2005. Advertising revenues contributed most of this war chest. Google's websites were consulted by 494.2 million unique visitors - a 13 percent increase during 2006. In addition, the search engine's subsidiary YouTube had 120 million unique visitors. In terms of visits, Google is just behind Microsoft, which had 508.6 million unique visitors in 2006. Google's plan for 2007 envisages entry into new markets, such as telephone advertising.
