The Greek state has signed a "strategic" agreement with Microsoft that will grant it "privileged conditions" for the purchase of software licenses from the American giant, according to a statement released by Greece's Ministry for Economic and Financial Affairs on February 1. Signed in Lisbon by Greek Minister Georges Alogoskoufis, the agreement, financial details of which have not been revealed, provides for "the acquisition of all new versions of Microsoft software" for three years at a fixed price. The statement emphasises that "the Greek state regards the expansion of information technologies and the fact that the officials and bodies concerned by this agreement will be have free access to software as very important".
