INDUSTRY : EU PRODUCER PRICES DOWN 2.1% IN NOV 08.

In November 2008, compared with October 2008, the industrial producer price index fell by 1.9% in the eurozone and by 2.1% in the EU, reflecting the economic crisis and the general slowdown in inflation. In October, prices decreased by 0.8% and 1.1%, respectively. In November 2008, compared with November 2007, industrial producer prices increased by 3.3% in the eurozone and by 4.1% in the EU, indicated Eurostat, on 7 January.

In November 2008, compared with the previous month, prices in total industry excluding the energy sector fell by 0.6% in the EU. Prices in the energy sector decreased by 5.8%. Capital goods gained 0.2%. Durable consumer goods remained unchanged. Non-durable consumer goods dropped by 0.3% in the EU. Intermediate goods declined by 1.3%.
