INFORMATION SOCIETY: DANISH PRESIDENCY WILL MAKE SECURITY A PRIORITY.

Within the framework of the eEurope initiative, the Danish Presidency will concentrate its efforts on strengthening security and confidence, said Sidse Aegidius, division head at the Danish Ministry for the Sciences, Technology and Innovation, at the "Helping SMEs to Go Digital" event organised by the Commission in Brussels on May 16. The eEurope 2005 action plan is still under discussion by the European Commission, but the European Commissioner for Enterprise and the Information Society, Erkki Liikanen, has already announced that the new action plan will have fewer priorities than its predecessor (eEurope 2002) but that these would be more tightly focused.
