need of international
protection?
No. It is not your responsibility to assess whether
a person is in need of international protection or
if his/her account is credible. A dierent procedure
will follow at a dierent place, conducted by ocials
of the asylum determination authority, to assess
the application and determine, in accordance with
EU and international law, if the person qualif‌ies for
international protection or not.
Your duty is to identify persons that may wish to
apply for international protection, provide them
with information on the possibility to do so and refer
to the competent authority those who expressed the
wish to apply.
See Section “Key role of f‌irst-contact ocials”
of the Practical Guide.
