The European Commission is to check whether there are undue Italian obstacles to access to third-party insurance for mopeds. Italian Euro-MP Ernesto Caccavale asked the Commission to look into the matter last year, suggesting that Italian insurers were operating a cartel to raise premiums and to prevent Italian moped owners from obtaining insurance from companies elsewhere in the EU.
