ORANGE PASSES 1.5 MILLION ' MOBILE BROADBAND' CLIENTS THRESHOLD.

France Telecom seized the opportunity provided by the publication of financial results on February 14 to announce that Orange has passed the threshold of 1.5 million "mobile broadband" clients. The term "mobile broadband" refers not only to Orange's 3G subscribers, whose precise numbers have not been published, but also to subscribers to EDGE, a second-generation network offering transmission speeds half as fast as the 384 kbits/second available through 3G. The France Telecom/Orange group indicates in its statement that it has 84.3 million "mobile" clients worldwide (France, Great Britain, Spain, Poland, Egypt's and Romania) following the acquisition of Spanish operator Amena.
