RAIL TRANSPORT : EUROPEAN DAY OF ACTION AGAINST RAIL LIBERALISATION.

A rail service disruption is on the cards for 9 October. The European Transport Workers' Federation (ETF) has coordinated a European day of action to protest against the liberalisation of national passenger transport, which is planned in the fourth railway package for the end of 2019. The ETF says that it wants to remind politicians that the railway services are above all public services. The federation intends to raise awareness among MEPs, who will decide on the fourth railway package at the end of November (vote on 26 November in the Committee on Transport).

The ETF says it has received confirmation that action will be taken in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, Spain, Switzerland and the UK.
