SIEMENS ANXIOUS TO COOPERATE WITH OTHER MICRO-PROCESSOR MANUFACTURERS.

Siemens is keen to cooperate with other manufacturers of micro-processors, Ulrich Schumacher, Director of the German giant's semi-conductors division told the Sueddeutsche Zeitung daily on November 9. He indicated that Siemens will take its place among the world's five leading manufacturers of micro-processors in 1998, with a 10% share of the global market. However, he suggested that in the longer term this is still too little, and that one option might be a partnership with other manufacturers. Finding themselves in a similar situation, America's IBM group or the Japanese manufacturers Fujitsu, Hitachi, NEC or Toshiba might react favourably to such a proposal. Siemens'...
