SOCIAL POLICY : CITIZENS' INITIATIVE ON UNIVERSAL INCOME.

Giving every person in the EU the unconditional right to basic material security is the demand of a citizens' action group that received, on 14 January, the European Commission's endorsement to launch a European citizens' initiative (ECI) on a universal income. The initiative will begin in February and must be supported by at least one million citizens from at least seven member states.
