The Italian anti-trust authorities have sentenced the Italian telecommunications operator Telecom Italia to pay a fine of around Euro 59 million for abusing its dominant position in the high speed ADSL telecommunications market. The competition and market authority explains in a statement that it ruled that Telecom Italia had abused its dominant position in the market for Internet access for data transfer and local communications services when it applied ADSL technologies to the public telecommunications network.
