TELECOM ITALIA INTERCONNECTION TARIFFS DEEMED EXCESSIVE.

The "Il Sole-24 Ore" daily reported on April 17 that the Italian Government has issued a decree which will de factor oblige Telecom Italia to lower its interconnection tariffs for operators wishing to link up to its network. According to Il Sole, the Telecommunications Ministry rejected a proposal from Telecom Italia on interconnection charges for operators wishing to make partial use of its network for fixed telephony services, ordering the company to submit a new proposal within a month.
