Abstract
The novel and in particular the realist novel exploits to a large extent some intertextual relations
thatlink itwith intra-literaryand extra-literarytexts (historical,political, sociological).This
internallaw of theliterary process seemsto be clearlyactivated byrealismin awayof its
ownandnotonthebasisof therefunctionalizationandresemanticization of“foreignparts”
of the text as in modern literature. In realist literature, the sources of other texts preserve the
status of the foreign text / embedded in another text structure, as they are found there quoting,
opposing,orholdinganacceptingordenyingaitudetowardsthem.
Even in the three novelsof Jakov Xoxa, although being a writer not inclined to construct
texts on intertextual relations, but on the basis of observation and elaboration of prominent
cases of reality and recent historical time, some interferences from other spheres of discourse
appear, realized on the basis of citation and more rarely on the basis of syncretization and
superimposition of texts on each other.
Keywords: novel, intertext, Jakov Xoxa, realism, syncretization.
