The mobile telephony group Virgin Mobile has indicated that talks with cable operator NTL in view of a takeover oare continuingo, while at the same time announcing a 20.3% increase in turnover for the third quarter ending December 31, 2005. Virgin Mobile indicated that the average revenue per subscriber over the period of a year had increased to [pounds sterling]123 in the third quarter compared to [pounds sterling]121 in the first quarter. The number of subscribers has risen by 12% to 4.346 million with 193,000 new subscribers (compared 276,000 a year earlier) to the third quarter 2004. Virgin Mobile has also seen a "marginal increase" in the rate of subscription cancellations from 26.9% to 27.5% in the first six months but maintain that this "rate is average for the sector".
