WORKING TIME DIRECTIVE : SECTORAL REVISION AN OPTION, SAY EU SOCIAL PARTNERS.
Answering questions raised by British Liberal MEP Elizabeth Lynne during the 26 January meeting of the European Parliament's Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL), the attending representatives of the EU's social partners said that they might consider agreeing to the revision of the Working Time Directive if it is focused only on problems relating to the calculation of on-call time in the health care sector. Ever since the EU Court of Justice ruled (SiMAP and Jager cases) that on-call time should be regarded as working time, this issue has been causing financial problems - and mainly in the health care sector.
