3G/FRANCE: BOUYGUES TELECOM TO BE ACCEPT FOR THE THIRD LICENCE.

The French telecommunications regulation authority (ART) announced on September 27 to that it will accept the candidacy of Bouygues Telecom for the grant of a third generation mobile telephony licence (3G, or UMTS) in France. The operator, which had deposited its candidature on May 15, will be given the license as soon as the Industry Minister confirms it with a signature, said ART in an official statement. Bouygues Telecom becomes thus the third operator allotting a 3G licence in France, after Orange (France Telecom) and SFR (Cegetel group).
