ABB ACQUIRES UK EMEC FOR UNDISCLOSED SUM.

ABB Ltd., the Swiss-based technology group, has acquired leading U.K. power network service company East Midlands Electricity Contracting, or EMEC, for an undisclosed sum. "The new company will enable ABB to broaden its offer of complete solutions for electricity networks", ABB said in a press release. EMEC was acquired from East Midlands Electricity, the UK distribution company owned by London-based PowerGen PLC.
