The following spoke: Martin Schulz, on behalf of the PSE Group, who called on the President of Parliament to condemn officially the anti-Semitic insults levelled at the Hungarian Prime Minister, Ferenc Gyurcsány, by participants in a demonstration in Budapest (the President replied that he would forward the request to the President of Parliament).

The following spoke: Graham Watson, on behalf of the ALDE Group, who thanked the President for organising the presentation of the Lux Prize at Parliament.

6. Statement by the President

The President made a brief statement to mark the 62nd anniversary of the United Nations. He drew attention to the official launch at Parliament on the same day of the annual report on EU-UN cooperation on crisis management, development and promotion of democracy and fundamental freedoms.

7. Welcome

On behalf of Parliament, the President welcomed members of a delegation from Mauritania — led by His Excellency Dr Abderrahmane Ould Tolba — who had taken their seats in the distinguished visitors' gallery.
