BREAKTHROUGH IN REVOLUTIONARY ROLL-UP SCREENS.

A European research team, co-ordinated by Professor Richard Friend of Cambridge University (Royal Kingdom) has made a revolutionary breakthrough in developing roll-up and flexible light and image display screens, paving the way for a new range of innovative applications such as pliable TV and computer screens. This project, which was presented on November 20 in Rome won the Descartes Prize - worth Euro 700,000 - aimed to develop technology to replace deposited glass or silicon-backed displays with flexible plastic substrates, allowing for cheaper processing. It uses the potential of polymeric light-emitting diodes (PLEDs) for light and image display screens.
