*e-mobility 2001The economic, social, cultural and environmental consequences of e-mobility are the focus of the forthcoming e-mobility 2001 conference, taking place in Gothenburg May 31 to June 1. Speakers will include Erkki Liikanen, European Commissioner for the Information Society and Enterprise, as well as Bjorn Rosengren, Swedish Minister for Industry, Employment and Communications. There will also be speeches from representatives of private sector firms and technology institutes. The implementation of new regulations, and consumers' growing demands for improved safety, comfort and information are two of the driving forces behind the search for innovative solutions. Microsystems technology (MST) is enabling advanced solutions in the quest for zero emission engines, lower fuel consumption and intelligent multimedia applications.Further details are available at: http://www.amaa.de* Seminar on IST for environment and tourismA three-day international workshop, Eurolat-IS, on the theme of "IST for Environment and Tourism" will take place in Quito, Ecuador, July 9-11. It will aim to build consortia to present proposals for collaboration in the EU-funded IST (Information Society Technologies) research programme. Participant numbers will be restricted to 80-120. Participants will be selected on the basis of the adaptation of a proposal to the priorities of the IST programme in relation to the environment and tourism.
