* Telecommunications Council

EU Telecommunications Ministers meet in Brussels on December 6. The following points are on the agenda

- the EU telecommunications sector: information from the Danish Presidency

- eEurope Action Plan2005 - Council Resolution on implementation - political agreement

- Proposal for a Council decision on adopting a multi-annual programme (2003-2005) on following up the eEurope Action Plan: good practices and improving security of information networks - general debate

- (possibly) Proposal for a Regulation setting up a unit on information and network security - presentation by the Commission

- Council Resolution on a European approach on a culture of information and network security - political agreement

- Draft European Parliament and Council Directive on re-using and selling public sector documents - general debate

- Council conclusions on information and communications technologies and electronic commerce in Europe - adoption

- Commission Communication for the Council and the European Parliament on the Eighth Report on the Implementation of Telecommunications Regulations - Commission presentation

- International management of the Internet, in particular, reform of ICANN - Commission presentations

- Commission Communication for the Council and the European Parliament on the obstacles to broad access to new services and information society applications through open platforms in digital television, and the thrid generation of mobile communications - Commission presentation

* Technology Enhanced Learning

An information day devoted to boosting knowledge on information technologies will be organised by Proacte on December 5 at the Jean Monnet building, Luxembourg. Targeting researchers, it will provide information on the Sixth Framework Programme. The sessions will be open to all interested parties on a 'first-come first-served' basis as the number of participants that can be accommodated in the conference facilities is limited. The attendance is free to registered participants, whereas there is no coverage for travel and subsistence expenses.
