* Workshop on information society technologies in Malta

The Maltese Council of sciences and technologies is organising on January 23 and 24, 2003 a workshop in Malta on information society technologies. This conference aims to present the Commission proposals on new mechanisms to support research, which come into effect at the end of 2002. The integrated projects and the 'networks of excellence' are two new support instruments which the Commission intends to use to channel research financing. During the two days, the participants will study the concrete operating mechanisms for the new technologies. In the margins of these new support instruments, speakers will outline the more traditional forms of Commission aid to the research, and development of the Sixth Framework Programme.
