The EU's Competitiveness Council will take place in Brussels on May 12 and 13. The main points on the agenda are:

The Commission's Communication on the follow-up to the "Go Digital" initiative (see TECH 227, section I);

The Commission Action Plan on boosting European research (see article in this edition, section I)

The European Research Area.

* TRAIN-IT workshop on turning technology into business, June 1-7

IST-Business TRAIN-IT offers a one-week hands-on training course to kick-start the process of business plan writing, turning technology into business. The well-tuned programme provides motivation and skills immediately applicable to your business case. PC facilities and scheduled work time will help you create a solid draft version of your business plan in the course of the week. Writing sessions alternate with individual coaching sessions, during which experienced experts will serve as a sounding board for your specific business challenges. Basic subjects are covered by lectures and discussions. Particular benefit will be derived from meeting entrepreneurs who have succeeded and overcome the hurdles.
