A conference entitled 'Tales of the disappearing computer (DC)' will take place from June 1 to 4 in Santorini, Greece with a view to stimulating debate on the latest research developments and on how information technology can be diffused into everyday objects and settings, going beyond what is possible with today's computers.

Items for discussion will include the major challenges in developing ambient intelligence and how to effectively filter information on the web for millions of subscribers.

A special session will take place, showcasing some successful projects of the EU disappearing computer (DC) initiative. Funded under the future and emerging technologies (FET) section of the Fifth Framework Programme's information society technologies (IST) programme, the DC initiative focuses on inter project collaboration activities in this field.

The event is being organised by the disappearing computer steering group in cooperation with the CONVIVIO Network.
