* Information day on IST mobile objective

An information and networking day on the 'applications and services for the mobile user and worker' will take place on June 26 in Brussels. 'Applications and services for the mobile user and worker' is one of the strategic objectives of the Sixth Framework Programme's information society technologies (IST) programme. In preparation for the forthcoming second call, the event will highlight some key challenges in the area of user-oriented applications and services for people on the move.

In a special session on the strategic objective, Commission representatives will present some general guidelines concerning proposal preparation and evaluation procedures. Participants will also have an opportunity to exchange ideas for proposals and expressions of interest during the afternoon networking session.

The event is being organised by the European Commission's Information Society DG.

* Workshop on e-work collaboration

The European Commission's Directorate General Information Society is organising a workshop aimed at exploring future developments in mobile and location-independent e-work in Brussels, on June 25. The workshop will examine emerging technologies such as Grid, P2P and agents technologies and their impact on the collaborative work environment space. It will also assess collaborative e-work methods and organisation, as well as potential mobility issues. In preparation for the forthcoming 2nd IST (information society technologies) call, the workshop will provide a forum for potential proposers to network and exchange forward-looking ideas for research proposals or expressions of interest.

* MUSICNETWORK workshop on future trends in music

As part of activities for the WEDELMUSIC 2003 conference, the Commission funded MUSICNETWORK is hosting an open workshop on future trends in music on September 17 and 18 in Leeds, United Kingdom. The workshop will focus on state of the art developments and future directions for music on the web, multimedia platforms and mobile telecommunications. It will provide a forum for industry, experts and research institutions to present their work and highlight recent innovations for the benefit of the whole community.
