* International Conference on online management of patents

The European Patents Office (EPO) is holding its second annual "epoline" conference, on December 9-12 in Barcelona (Spain), on the themes "Online Patent Management" and "Disseminating information".

The conference will be a chance to show how "epoline", the EPOs online service for the intellectual property community, facilitates access to the patents system both for professional users and for the general public. The sessions will be led by representatives of industry and universities, as well as by specialists in intellectual property and successful private inventors. The conference will be of particular interest to patent agents, their administrative staff and others involved in the protection of intellectual property rights.

* Managing communication with web-based platforms for projects under the 6th FRDP

A half-day workshop devoted to the use of web-based platforms for managing communication and information sharing in large projects under the Sixth Framework Research and Development Programme (6th FRDP) will take place in Cambridge (United Kingdom), on November 12.

The workshop will be based on integrated projects and networks of excellence, but will also look at the question of managing and disseminating the knowledge generated by projects.

The debates will focus on the following three themes:

- how web-based tools can contribute significantly to the management and the impact of integrated projects and networks of excellence under the 6th FRDP;

- desired functionality of web-based platforms for projects under the 6th FRDP;

- currently available web-based tools, including demonstration of a developed system.
