(2004/C 11 E/253) PREGUNTA ESCRITA E-1784/03 de Claude Moraes (PSE) a la Comisión (28 de mayo de 2003) Asunto: Mesa redonda sobre el acceso a los medicamentos ¿Qué conclusiones ha sacado la Comisión de la mesa redonda entre la UE y la OMC sobre el acceso a los medicamentos, celebrada en Bruselas el 28 de abril, a la que asistieron Romano Prodi y los comisarios Lamy y Busquin? (2004/C 11 E/254) PREGUNTA ESCRITA E-1791/03 de Claude Moraes (PSE) a la Comisión (28 de mayo de 2003) Asunto: Ronda de Doha de negociaciones multilaterales sobre comercio.
La ronda de Doha de negociaciones comerciales multilaterales estableció la fecha límite del 31 de marzo para llegar a un acuerdo en el ámbito de las negociaciones para liberalizar el comercio agrícola.
El calendario de Doha también sugería el establecimiento de un acuerdo, para finales de 2002, sobre la mejora del acceso de los países en desarrollo a los medicamentos genéricos a bajo coste para combatir el VIH/SIDA y otras enfermedades.
¿Qué opina la Comisión sobre el progreso o el estancamiento de las negociaciones de Doha, en especial en lo que concierne al comercio de productos agrícolas y al acceso de los países en desarrollo a medicamentos genéricos a bajo precio? Respuesta común a las preguntas escritas E-1779/03, E-1784/03 y E-1791/03 dada por el Sr. Lamy en nombre de la Comisión (27 de junio de 2003) La Comisión lamenta que hasta la fecha no se haya alcanzado acuerdo alguno con vistas a solventar los problemas que afrontan los países en desarrollo con insuficiente capacidad de producción o que carecen por completo de tal capacidad (apartado 6 de la Declaración de Doha relativa al acuerdo sobre los ADPIC y la salud pública). Está colaborando con sus socios de la Organización Mundial del Comercio (OMC) a fin de arbitrar una solución antes de la Conferencia Ministerial de Cancún, que tendrá lugar en septiembre de 2003. La solución que se proponga no deberá, en modo alguno, comprometer el contenido de la Declaración de Doha relativa al acuerdo sobre los ADPIC y la salud pública aprobada en noviembre de 2001.
