The European Parliament has give its support to plans to use state aid for job creation projects. The assembly adopted a resolution by Luis Berenguer Fuster (PES/Spain) welcoming a proposal by the European Commission which aims to clarify the rules on state aid for job creation schemes (C5-0259/2002 - 2002/2126(COS)) in line with the European employment strategy and with an emphasis on helping the disadvantaged. The MEP called for flexibility when defining categories of workers eligible for such state aid schemes, in order to take account of the varying situations across Europe.
