The arrangements the European Union is making for recruitment in the acceding states are fully appropriate, according to the report prepared by Manuel Medina Ortega for the European Parliament's Committee on Legal Affairs and the Internal Market. The committee debated on November 4 its opinion on the proposal for a Council regulation introducing special temporary measures for recruitment of EU officials from the acceding states. And Mr Medina Ortega's draft report approves the Commission proposal, even though the arrangements involve a derogation from normal EU recruitment procedures.
