EU AND EURO ZONE UNEMPLOYMENT STABLE IN JUNE.

Unemployment in the European Union remained unchanged at 9.4% in June, according to figures published on August 10 by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. EU unemployment in June 1998 stood at 10.0%. The corresponding rates for the Euro zone (all EU Member States except for Denmark, Greece, Sweden and the United Kingdom) were 10.3% for June 99, unchanged on the previous month, and 10.9% in June 1998. Eurostat estimates that 13.3 million men and women were unemployed in the Euro zone and 16.1 million across the entire EU in June 1999.The lowest rates in June were recorded by Luxembourg (2.8%) and the Netherlands (3.3% in May), followed by Austria (4,3%), Denmark (4.5%) and Portugal...
