EURO CHANGEOVER INFORMATION NETWORK LAUNCHED.

The European Commission has established a Changeover Information Network (CIN) on the switch-over to the single currency, to ensure a permanent exchange of data between the leading players. The CIN should also permit the drafting of periodical reports on the progress of operations. On the bases of data available through this network, the Commission's Directorate-General for Economic and Monetary Affairs and its boss Pedro Solbes will be able to monitor the changeover to the Euro on a daily basis from December 30, 2001 onwards. During the first three weeks of January (six days a week during the first fortnight and for five days during the third week), information will be submitted on a daily basis. Thereafter data will be submitted on a twice-weekly basis until the end of the dual circulation period.
