* FINREAD Major Communication Event : A Consortium of innovative European payments schemes and a smartcard reader manufacturer have, with the full support of the European Commission, completed the specifications for a secure smart card reader to be used, essentially but not exclusively, in a wide range of e-commerce financial and payment applications. The FINREAD (Financial Transactional IC Card Reader) specifications have recently been recognised by the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN), and will rapidly emerge as the de facto standard for a wide range of low-cost secure and interoperable smart card readers. The FINREAD Consortium has organised this conference and cocktail party to launch of this innovative solution.
