EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT: SAKHAROV PRIZE AWARDED TO BELARUSIAN ASSOCIATION OF JOURNALISTS.

This year's Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought goes to the Belarusian Association of Journalists, awarded on October 28. It was selected by the European Parliament's political groups from a shortlist of three candidates. The Belarusian Journalists' Association champions independent media, monitoring infringements of freedom of speech and publishes its findings on the Internet.
