EVALUATION OF TRANS-EUROPEAN NETWORKS.

The European Commission's Information Society Directorate-General has published a call for expressions of interest for experts interested in assisting with the evaluation and review of projects funded by the TEN-Telecom action (in the period 2000-02), which aims to create trans-European telecommunications networks. The EU's TEN-Telecom action promotes the use of global telecommunications networks in areas with a high socio-economic value. The rapid extension of new information technologies has led to the appearance of a wealth of communications services. TEN-Telecom aims to promote compatible telecommunications systems and standards and to make sure that services developed in most cases at national, local or sectoral levels can be extended at European level, for the benefit of a larger community. The Commission is now inviting applications for the compilation of a list of experts for the provision of assistance in three areas:- With the technical evaluation of proposals submitted following calls for proposals;- With the review of specific projects; and- With the overall evaluation of the TEN-Telecom action.Experts are sought with knowledge of the following sectors: healthcare, education and training, European cultural...
