FEBRUARY 21/22 FARM COUNCIL SESSION CANCELLED.

Owing to delays in the European Commission's publication of proposals on farm prices and related measures for the 2000/2001 marketing year, the February 21-22 session of the EU Council of Agriculture Ministers has been cancelled. Proposals on the farm prices package have in principle been deferred until February 23. Budget Commissioner Michaele Schreyer has insisted that discussions within the Commission on priorities for the 2001 General EU Budget should be held prior to proposals on the price package being finalised. Mr Fischler's draft price package is at the present juncture not acceptable, according to Mrs Schreyer's Cabinet.
