A report by two French MPs - Constance Le Grip (EPP MEP) and Henri Plagnol (member of the French National Assembly representing Val-de-Marne, UMP) - entitled 'A blueprint for steering Europe's economy' was delivered to President Nicolas Sarkozy, on 6 January. It will be transmitted to European Council President Herman Van Rompuy given his interest in these issues "essential to the stability of Europe and the eurozone," notes a communique released by the French president's office.

The two elected officials present 15 proposals for strengthening economic governance in Europe, including further development of the internal market, the organisation of a trade strategy founded on reciprocity or an overhaul of the EU budget.
