INAUGURAL MEETING OF PRODI COMMISSION ON JULY 16.

The man appointed to be the future President of the European Commission, Romano Prodi, has convened an inaugural meeting of his new European Commissioners on July 16 at a chateau in Aartselaar, on the outskirts of Antwerp. The 19 portfolios will be handed out at that meeting. The identity of the new European Commissioners should be known by July 9. So far, not all of the Commissioners have been formally nominated by their respective governments.
