INFLATION STABLE IN EURO-ZONE, DOWN IN EU-25.

Euro-zone annual inflation remained stable at 2.3% between July and August 2004, according to new figures from the EU's statistical service. A year earlier the rate was 2.1%.

By contrast, annual inflation across the whole EU fell from 2.2% in July to 2.1% in August 2004. A year earlier the rate was 2.0%.

And in the European Economic Area, annual inflation was 2.1% this August.

In August 2004, the highest annual inflation rates in EU Member States were recorded in Latvia (7.8%), Hungary (7.2%), Slovakia (7.0%) and Poland (4.9%); the lowest rates were observed in Finland (0.3%), Denmark (0.9%)...
