RTE (Radio Telefis Eireann), Ireland's public service broadcaster is to conduct a series of DAB audiometric tests this year. The tests mark the launch of its switch to digital. Lasting three months, the tests will cover Dublin and its suburbs and the North-East region of the country. These areas have been selected for their high population and building density. If the tests prove successful on a technical level, RTE Radio will file a request later in 2006 for a licence to broadcast radio throughout the zone.
