Kristel Siitam-Nyiri worked as a prosecutor in Estonia for 16 years, mainly specializing to economic crime and corruption. From 1999 to 2011 she was the head of economic crime department in Tallinn. In 2011 she was seconded to the Ministry of Justice of Estonia and worked as a Deputy Secretary General on Criminal Policy, until she was appointed as European Prosecutor in 2020.
