MEMBER STATES WANT TO INTERVIEW FIVE CANDIDATES FOR TOP FRAUD UNIT JOB.

Member states' ambassadors to the EU have decided that they want to interview all five candidates for the post of Director-General of the Union's anti-fraud unit, OLAF, adding a further deal to the process of deciding on a new head. The decision was taken at a meeting of ambassadors (COREPER) on October 14. The move follows a vote by the European Parliament's Budgetary Control Committee on October 11 on the most suitable candidate. The Swedish hopeful, Bjorn Eriksson, received 20 votes while the current Director-General, German national Franz-Hermann Bruner, got the support of 14 MEPs.
