MORE COMMISSION DIRECTORS-GENERAL APPOINTED.

The European Commission announced on November 8 several senior appointments to start on January 1, 2000:

- Jos Manuel Silva Rodriguez (Spain) has been promoted from Deputy Director-General of the DG for Agriculture to Director-General;

- Fabio Colasanti (Italy), Deputy Chef de Cabinet for the President Romano Prodi, has been appointed Director-General of the DG for Enterprise;

- Klaus Van der Pas (Germany), former head of the Enlargement Task Force prior to the creation, last October of the DG for Enlargement, has been appointed Director-General of the DG for Education & Culture;

- Catherine Day (United Kingdom), is appointed Deputy Director-General with the DG for External Relations where she used to be the head of the Central...
