DECISIÓN DE LOS REPRESENTANTES DE LOS GOBIERNOS DE LOS ESTADOS MIEMBROS

por la que se nombra a un juez del Tribunal General

LOS REPRESENTANTES DE LOS GOBIERNOS DE LOS ESTADOS
MIEMBROS DE LA UNIÓN EUROPEA,
Visto el Tratado de la Unión Europea y, en particular, su artículo 19,
Visto el Tratado de Funcionamiento de la Unión Europea y, en particular, sus artículos 254 y 255,
Considerando lo siguiente:
(1) En virtud de las disposiciones de los Tratados, cada tres años debe procederse a una renovación parcial de los jueces del Tribunal General. Para el período comprendido entre el 1 de septiembre de 2010 y el 31 de agosto de 2016 había que nombrar a catorce jueces del Tribunal General.

( 2 ) y 2010/629/UE

), la Conferencia de Representantes de los Gobiernos de los Estados miembros nombró a trece jueces del Tribunal General para el período arriba mencionado.
(3) A la espera de que se lleve a cabo el proceso de nombramiento del juez para el puesto que queda por cubrir, de conformidad con las disposiciones del Tratado de Funcionamiento de la Unión Europea, el Sr. Valeriu CIUCĂ, nombrado juez el 1 de enero de 2007, se mantuvo en su puesto tras el 31 de agosto de 2010.
(4) El Gobierno de Rumanía propuso la candidatura del Sr. Andrei POPESCU para las funciones de juez en el Tribunal General. El Comité creado en virtud del artículo 255 del Tratado de Funcionamiento de la Unión Europea emitió un dictamen sobre la idoneidad de este candidato para el ejercicio de las funciones de juez en el Tribunal General.
