4. ¿Qué medidas piensa tomar la Comisión para asegurar una mejor integración de la venta de billetes y de la reserva, para que, por lo menos para los destinos en los Estados miembros y, en la medida de lo posible, también en los países candidatos, se pueda reservar con tiempo y se puedan comprar en una sola operación para el mayor número posible de destinos los billetes para el conjunto del trayecto? 5. ¿Tiene la Comisión la intención de referirse a una solución para estos problemas en la propuesta que anunciaba en su respuesta a las preguntas E-0518/02 y E-0520/02 (1 ) de 18 de abril de 2002, que presentaría a finales de 2002, en materia de derechos y obligaciones de los pasajeros en el transporte internacional por ferrocarril? Respuesta común a las preguntas escritas E-2033/02, E-2034/02 y E-2035/02 dada por el Sra. de Palacio en nombre de la Comisión (3 de septiembre de 2002) La Comisión comparte por entero el parecer de Su Señoría en lo que se refiere a las deficiencias del transporte ferroviario transfronterizo de viajeros. Esta es una de las razones por las que la Comisión ha propuesto que todos los servicios de este tipo explotados bajo obligaciones de servicio público estén sujetos a unos contratos de servicio público por períodos limitados y controlados con todo rigor, celebrados tras una licitación abierta y competitiva.
En respuesta a las inquietudes expresadas por el Parlamento, la propuesta revisada (1 ) faculta a las autoridades para extender los mecanismos de integración (incluidos los precios y la expedición de billetes) más allá de las fronteras nacionales.
Recientemente se puso en marcha un proceso de consulta con el sector sobre si procede revisar los sistemas informatizados de reserva para poder ofrecer a los viajeros una mejor información y facilitar las reservas en el transporte ferroviario internacional. A la luz de los resultados de esta consulta, la Comisión estudiará la necesidad de revisar el Reglamento (CEE) no 2299/89 del Consejo, de 24 de julio de 1989, por el que se establece un código de conducta para los sistemas informatizados de reserva (2).
