ROAD TRANSPORT: IRU CALLS FOR CHANGES TO MARCO POLO PROGRAMME.

The International Road Transport Union (IRU) is not happy with the new Marco Polo programme, which is designed to support a more environmentally-friendly system of transport in Europe. The organisation is asking EU Member States and the European Parliament to ensure that the proposal for a Regulation presented by the European Commission on February 4 (see European Report 2657, 492) is redrafted, in order, it says, to genuinely promote projects of intermodal transport.
