STATE AID APPROVED FOR UK SPACECRAFT MANUFACTURER SSTL.

On 4 November, the European Commission approved state aid worth GBP21 million (around 24 million) to Surrey Satellite Technology Limited (SSTL) - an EADS Astrium subsidiary - to develop a low-cost, synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite. The aid addresses "a genuine market failure without giving rise to undue distortions of competition".
