Topic

The Pact on Asylum and Migration, which was proposed by the European Commission in September 2020, aims to reform the EU's migration and asylum policy. It proposes several changes to the current system, including a new system for distributing asylum seekers among Member States, a more efficient and effective return system for irregular migrants, and increased cooperation with third countries to manage migration flows.

In her analysis, Goldner Lang examines the financial implications of these proposed changes. She considers whether they will result in new costs for the EU and its Member States, such as costs associated with processing asylum claims, providing support to refugees and migrants, and implementing new policies and procedures. She also considers whether these costs have been included in the MFF 2021-2027, which sets out the EU's budget for the next seven years.

By exploring these questions, Goldner Lang aims to shed light on the potential financial impact of the Pact on Asylum and Migration.
