Thomas Jaeger is a Professor of European Law at the University of Vienna, boasting an impressive academic and professional career. He pursued studies in law, philosophy, and political sciences at the Universities of Vienna and Paris from 1995 to 2000. Subsequently, he earned an LL.M in European Law from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in 2001-2002. His career includes roles as an Assistant Researcher in European Law at the University of Salzburg and a Senior Research Fellow at the Max-Planck-Institute for Innovation and Competition in Munich.


He is a prolific author with numerous publications in civil law, intellectual property, and comparative law. Since 2016, he has held the Chair in European Law at the University of Vienna and serves as the Vice Head of the Department of European, International, and Comparative Law. In 2017, he was offered a Chair in European Law at Salzburg University, which he declined. Additionally, he was scheduled to be a Visiting Research Fellow at the Faculty of Law at Kyoto University in 2021.
