IMCO backs a proposed regulation that would facilitate the transfer of registered vehicles within the EU

On 18 March, the European Parliament's Committee on the Internal Market (IMCO) approved a report by Toine Manders (ALDE, Netherlands) calling for the registration of vehicles in another EU member state to be made easier and faster. The text is Parliament's response to a regulation proposed by the European Commission in April 2012. It states that citizens who move to another country must register their motor vehicle in the member state where the owner has his or her "habitual residence" within three months, or within one month if it is possible to register online.
