Catherine Van de Heyning, prof dr LLM, is a deputy public prosecutor working on cybercrime and cyber-enabled crimes. In the Antwerp prosecutional district she serves as expert on online sexual violence. She combines work in the prosecution with academia. She is a professor in European fundamental rights law at the University of Antwerp, specialising in the impact of digitalisation on criminal justice. She is a member of the Advisory Committee to the United Nations Human Rights Council and board member of the Belgian national human rights institute.
